Our favourite must-haves for an on-trend glow

Start with Skincare

Okay, let’s talk about skincare. I know, I know…it’s boring but it’s true…a great makeup application does start with a great skincare routine. Even out your skin texture with a cream exfoliation such as the IMAGE skincare Enzyme masque . This product dissolves the build up of dead skin cells that cause dullness to the skins surface and reveals a gorgeous luminosity to the skin.  An absolute favourite of mine! For  a deeper drive into skincare you can check out my blog post: The bridal countdown Series skincare-basics.

It infuses skin with protective antioxidants and vitamins that nourish and promote healthy looking skin.

MY TOP TIP:  Apply several times a week in the lead up to your wedding for nourished, healthy looking skin!

Once Prepared, Now Prime.

Once you have popped on your skincare, it is now time to prime the skin and get it ready for foundation! I would suggest a primer that is suitable for your skin type, with minimal glittery partials. This will ensure your makeup lasts all day, and your complexion stays dewy, not shinny. A must have  of mine for skins that need an extra hydrating boost is the Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Face Primer.

For gals with a oily  complexions, The Benefit Porefessional Matte Rescue works a treat. It’s gel based so you can layer creamy highlighters over the top without worrying about the “rolling effect” of heavily silicone based primers.

MY TOP TIP: For best results mix and match your primers. Apply matte primers in the “T-zone” and hydrating ones on the high points of the face for a professional finish.

Liquid Highlighter will create that “Glazed donut skin”

Once of the biggest beauty trends of 2022 has to be the ” glazed donut skin” and my ultimate favourite product for creating this look is the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand. This liquid highlighter has just the right amount of Oleogel to create a high gloss finish without the glitter partials, so it looks just as fab in day light as it does on camera.

MY TOP TIP: Be strategic with your highlight placement. Place on the “high points” of the face for a healthy looking glow.

Finishing Touches: Powder Up

Strategically placed powder can make or break your bridal makeup glow! Finding the right balance for your skin type might take a little experimenting but the key( as always!) is product placement! Grab yourself a small fluffy tapered blending brush like a MAC 224 and lightly apply a setting powder like Laura Mercier Setting powder to lock everything in place without looking too heavy.

MY TOP TIP: If you want additional smoothness to the skin, add a finishing powder. Just avoid the top of the cheek bone for the ultimate glass-like skin.
